When Ben & Danielle came to me I could tell in the first 5 minutes that these two were looking to create a really unique and memorable experience for their guests. We all say that, but these two really meant it. I can’t tell you how excited I was to get started on this seriously non-traditional Banff wedding that was all about the guests, and the very happy couple. By the time this wedding weekend rolled around we had a 56 passenger bus, cowboy hats, gondola tickets, a mountie, and wooden wildlife silhouettes on the tables. Read on to see how we created a very memorable weekend for Ben, Danielle and 50 of their closest friends.
For Ben & Danielle’s weekend of mountain fun, we created three distinct events. We started off with a welcome reception at a cozy western property, that included a seriously yummy BBQ feast, lawn games, and an rockin’celtic band ( complete with a real Irish Mum who taught everyone to dance!).
For wedding day, we let guests know what to wear, and where to meet, and that was it! We kept all of the details top secret. While Ben & Danielle finished getting ready all of the guests got onto a motorcoach and began a sightseeing tour of Banff. They selected some of the most beautiful spots in town, including Bow Falls & Surprise corner. After lots of photo ops, the bus pulled up to Tunnel Mountain Meadow where 50 chairs sat in a perfect circle. The guests were greeted by a real Mountie in red serge, and two fiddlers. Ben & Danielle exchanged some of the most heartfelt vows literally surrounded by their closest friends and family.
Following the ceremony and some fun group photos, the guests hopped on a bus to do some more sightseeing. Danielle & Ben spent some time enjoying their brand new marriage and getting some photos. They also found some new friends to have lunch with! Once photos were complete, everyone headed to the Banff Gondola, to experience Banff at it’s finest. It have to note that I LOVE both the squirrel head and Ben & Danielle faces on sticks that popped up on the bus. From what I hear the bus was an awfully fun place to be that day!
We finished off the day with a whimsical dinner party at a local restaurant. Like most couples nowadays, Ben & Danielle really love good food! The evening had some fun woodland decor, with a real focus on good food, wine and conversation!
The day after the wedding everyone climbed back on a bus to do a tour of Lake Louise. I even arranged to have a few bears on the side of the road ( I’m kidding, I can’t really do that, but I’d like to take credit for the good luck!)
