Sophisticated Winter Wedding at the Iron Goat

When Trish came to us, she had a really clear vision for her wedding day, she was just a bit stuck on the logistics! You might be surprised to hear that all of our design work is a collaboration with the couple. The Iron Goat Pub & Grill in Canmore provided the perfect backdrop for Trish’s sophisticated rustic style. The great thing about a restaurant is that you often don’t need to do much – the Iron Goat has fantastic wood tables and lots of black iron decor accents. We focused on the tabletop decor – Rebecca Dawn Floral Designs created beautiful textured arrangements featuring soft whites and greys, we added some mercury glass and candles, and finished the look with elegant stationery including menus and table numbers.

We hadn’t planned for this late October wedding to look like a winter wonderland, but I think you’ll agree that the big heavy snow made for a fabulous photo backdrop, and Orange Girl Photographs captured it perfectly!

Classic Glam Wedding at the Banff Springs Hotel

I can’t tell you how excited I was when I met Leigha and Devin for the first time. Leigha was totally in love with the history of the Canadian Rockies – and the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in particular. When we began designing this wedding we connected with the hotel’s in-house historian, Dave Moberg, to look at old images, menus and print materials from the 1920’s to 1950’s to find our inspiration.

What resulted was a elegant, beautiful, personal and and seriously fun wedding. Some of my favourite details included Leigha’s GORGEOUS, elegant, vintage-inspired gown; the beautiful textured linens from La Tavola Linens in California; the gold foil stationery including a menu with a 1939 date stamp on it; the lace and ruffle cake which was inspired by Leigha’s dress (and created by Alannah Jensen), the tutu-inspired tulle cake table linen (Leigha used to be a dancer); the historic Bruno Engler coffee table book we used for guests to sign; the custom wooden cake toppers; the ceremony bagpiper; and the amazing party band the Dino Martini’s. Phew, that’s a lot of details!

I can’t thank Julie Williams Photography enough for capturing these beautiful images and sharing them with us!

A Cozy Intimate Winter Wedding

Sarah and Tyler chose the super rustic, cozy, intimate Baker Creek Mountain Resort & Bistro as their mountain wedding venue. They wanted an outdoor ceremony, even though they were getting married in March. Lucky for us, there was a lovely path, next to a creek and a crackling fire that was perfect for an intimate wedding ceremony. They got married nestled amongst snowbanks. I adored the warm palette of oranges Sarah selected, and was especially fond of the owl theme (Sarah collects owsl). Another favourite touch? The chocolate sculpture. Perfect.

A warm thank you to Paul with PMG Image for sharing these striking images (and crawling through snowbanks to get the shots)!

A Sweet Buffalo Mountain Lodge Wedding

We “met” (we do a lot of meeting over Skype) Kristen and Darren exactly one month before their big day. Kristen had so many wonderful ideas on how she wanted her wedding to look and feel, but she wanted some assistance to make sure everything was going to come together and look cohesive. She also wanted to be sure that her and Darren, as well as their friends and family could relax and enjoy their big day. We (quickly) scheduled a decor consult and helped Kristen finalize her decor, so she could get it all ordered.

On June 25th we faced wind, rain, hail and even a cougar scare, but everything came together beautifully! Kristen and Darren reminded me that the most beautiful weddings happen when the bride and groom are madly in love, and include special touches that really speak to that love.

A big thank-you to the lovely Orange Girl Photographs who not only told Kristen & Darren of our services, but also captured and shared these amazing images!

A Winter Destination Wedding in the Canadian Rockies

Lindy and Mike got engaged on the ski slopes, and spent the weekend at the Juniper Hotel and Bistro. So naturally, it was the perfect venue for their winter wedding! This little inn is loaded with character, and perfect for a couple who loves the rustic yet elegant aesthetic. I had the pleasure of working with Lindy and her lovely Mom, Midge to plan and design this wedding. Midge has planned many events, and working with her was just like working with another event professional! Lindy is just loaded with beautiful vibrant energy, I really miss chatting with her all the time!

With guests travelling from all over Alberta and beyond, Lindy and Mike decided to plan a full weekend of events. We kicked the weekend off with a welcome party complete with a full fun casino, and a smore bar perfect for the outdoor firepit overlooking Mount Rundle. Saturday was wedding day complete with rustic elegant decor, a hot cocoa favour station, and a woodland ceremony; and Sunday included a relaxed (and super yummy) brunch, followed by a horse drawn sleigh ride with gourmet hot chocolate for the guests! This was a really exciting weekend for our team, as we spent 3 days working with these wonderful families to create a full Rocky Mountain Experience for them and their guests. Lindy and I chatted recently, and she told me her wedding felt like “a vacation with a wedding in it.” That made me beam, because it’s exactly how we want all of our couples to feel!

Thank you so much to Kirstie of Orange Girl Photographs for sharing some of Lindy & Mike’s beautiful images with us! Have a peek below to see how everything came together!
