Venue Spotlight ~ Emerald Lake Lodge

Lucky me, I got to spend a lovely fall day taking a drive through the mountains to explore 3 Rocky Mountain wedding venues I want to tell you all about! In my next three blogs posts I’m going to feature each one of these amazing wedding venues.  First up, the incredibly sweet, charmingly rustic Emerald Lake Lodge.  I’ve lived in this area for 15 years, but I have to admit, this was my first trip out to Emerald Lake. The venue caught my eye when I saw a beautiful Emerald Lake Lodge wedding in this Style Me Pretty feature submitted by the amazing Kirstie Tweed of Orange Girl Photographs. It was seriously time for me to get out there and see this Lodge for myself!

The lounge inside the main Lodge

Located just a wee bit over the BC border, about 2.5 hours from Calgary {depending on the roads}, you can literally feel the calm in your bones when you step foot on the island { that’s right, it’s on a little island! Well actually a peninsula, but it feels like and island}. There’s a sweet little tuck shop with bright red canoes for rent, a quaint little dock, a brand new hot tub, and a fire pit perfect for roasting marshmallows. The main lodge is rustic {but not outhouse rustic –  warm cozy, comfy rustic}, with a lounge, formal dining room, patio’s, game room, heritage snooker table, and the ONLY television in the whole resort {Emerald Lake Lodge is all about unplugging. There is no cell phone reception, no in room wifi, and no TV’s}.  The main lodge also has 2 of the 3 spaces available for weddings.  The Vice Presidents room can seat up to 80, and the Presidents room is ideal for a intimate wedding with up to 24 guests. I understand that during the shoulder season shut down this year both of these rooms will be getting a bit of a face lift, I can’t wait to see the changes!

A gorgeous view

The main lodge is surrounded by the guest cabins {24 of them, with a couple of suites in each cabin}, which are  also rustic-chic with stone flooring, fireplaces, big comfy beds, and some with AMAZING views of the lake from the cozy wrap around porches.  Nestled amongst the cabins is the ‘Viewpoint’ a terraced stone patio with a stunning view of the lake, ideal for stand-up outdoor ceremonies. The final venue option {and my personal favourite} is Cilantro’s on the Lake. Situated at the front of the resort Cilantro’s acts as a restaurant during the summer, and comfortably seats about 60. There’s a large stone fireplace, soaring wood beamed ceilings, and an adjoining stone patio with fire pit. Like the rest of the resort the decor is rustic, and there are some excellent vintage pieces {like the vintage stove in the ladies room}. Emerald Lake Lodge Weddings can also choose the ultra-exclusive option of renting the whole island. That means you have full access to all of the public areas, and you and your guests can enjoy merriment into the wee hours of the night, all tucked into your own personal mountain resort.
